
Andrew Cappellano, age 92, of North Tonawanda, NY died on May 3rd, 2006 at his home after a short illness, with loving care by his family, friends and Niagara Hospice. He and his wife of nearly 60 years, Josephine, were married on June 8th, 1946 at Holy Spirit Church in Buffalo, NY. His parents were Andrew and Frances Cappellano, both originally from Bangor, PA., where Andrew was born. Andrew lived in North Tonawanda for the majority of his life. He worked at Western Electric in Tonawanda where he was a millwright for 35 years. He retired from Western Electric in 1977. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served during WWII (1943-1946) at a Seaman First Class in South America. He is a registered Navy Veteran in the U.S. Navy Memorial Log in Washington, D.C. Andrew is a longtime member of Ascension R.C. Church in North Tonawanda, where he sang in the choir for many years. His favorite pastimes included his family, singing, music, cooking, golfing and yearly family reunions, as well as “playing” the stock market. He will always be remembered as a “Crooner” singing his favorite songs, “For the Good Times”, “I Wish You Love” and “Summertime”. Brother of the late Katherine Machenzie, Angeline Bruno, Thomas Cappellano , Peter Caappellano and Marion Coniglio.
Beloved husband of Josephine (nee Marino) Cappellano of North Tonawanda. Loving father of Andrew Y. Cappellano, Andrea (Mark) Duguay of Wilson, Duane (Angela Frizzbe) Cappellano, Deborah (Michael) Pellegrino and Dean (Dawn Felvus) all of North Tonawanda. Proud grandfather of Dan and Sabrina (Realmuto) Duguay of Amherst, Bernadette and Amandou Diakhate of Arizona, Melissa Giambrone, Coreen Cappellano, Amanda and Ashley Pellegrino, Chaz, Gianna and Austin Duguay, Joseph and Nicholas Cappellano, Kaitlyn, Emily, Kayla and Kendra Felvus of North Tonawanda. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Friends received by the family on Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Brunner Funeral Home, 156 Robinson Street, North Tonawanda where services will be held on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Ascension R.C. Church at 1:30 p.m. Interment services will be private at Acacia Park Cemetery. The family asks that memorials be made in Andy’s memory to Niagara Hospice, Inc. 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
