Richard Zell Meckes

Richard Zell Meckes, age 83, of North Tonawanda on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 after a couragous battle with lung cancer. Richard was a parishoner of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. He was a retired Sheet Metal Worker. Richard was a member of Transportation Lodge #842 F.& A.M. since 1966. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict on the U.S.S. Salerno Bay. Son of the late Emanuel and Helen Meckes. Brother of the late Eileen Meckes. Husband of the late Mary (nee Mulkay) Meckes.
Beloved husband of Joyce E. (Simmons) Meckes. Loving father of James (Joanne) DeVoy, Donna DeVoy, Mark (Ann) Meckes and Shawn Meckes. Brother of Gerald and John Meckes. Proud grandfather of seven grandchildlren, five great grandchildren. Proud step-father of Joyces children.
Friends received by the family on Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the Brunner Funeral Home, (692-3841) 156 Robinson St., N. Tonawanda, where Masonic Services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning at 11:00 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Payne and Tremont Steets, in North Tonawanda. Memorials may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
