William (Bill) Oberjosh gained his angel wings on May 4, 2025 under the care of Niagara Hospice and Home-Based Primary Care of the Buffalo Veterans Hospital. He was a loving and caring husband, father, and friend. Even with dementia, he had to be near his Betty and held hands every night until they were no longer able to do so. Their nicknames were Silly Billy and Dizzy Lizzy.
Bill is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Betty Mehalic) of 69 years, his daughter Cindy, sister-in-law Katherine (John Gleto), and several nieces and nephews. As the baby, he is the last of the family being predeceased by his parents John and Cecelia (Golembeski) Obergoss. He is also predeceased by his brothers John (Marge), Joe (Betty), Ed (Marie), and Henry (Mary Jane) and his sister Ann (John) Surek. Bill is also survived by his seven pups Peanut, Bella, Coco, Twix, Shirley, Nala and Osito. He will join Daisy, Shiloh, and his precious Sassy who never left his side. He loved his pups who we referred to as the grandchildren and they brought him such joy.
Bill was born in Maple Ridge, PA and grew up in Windber, PA before joining the Army in 1953-55. When he returned from the service, his family moved to North Tonawanda where he lived the remainder of his life. He, along with his parents and brother, Henry, purchased the Oliver Hotel where he met close friends who loved to hunt, fish, golf and play the ponies. He cherished his memories of these shared moments. In his later years Bill loved to garden and sculpt plants into crosses and a variety of shapes. He was known for trying to share his plants with everyone who admired them.
Bill was a jokester with a gift of gab who loved to make people laugh even when wrestling with his own health issues.
Bill was passionate about his Catholic faith and was a member of Ascension Church and Our Lady Czestochowa Church. He attended mass at OLC until his health declined. He always shared how proud he was to have been an alter boy at the Windber church.
Friends received by the family on Thursday May 8, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. at the Brunner Funeral Home, 156 Robinson St., North Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church followed by interment with Military Honors at Acacia Park Cemetery.
